As a nutritionist, athletic trainer, and rowing athlete, I have always placed great importance on the choice of training tools. Throughout my career, I have tried various methods to monitor heart rate, a crucial aspect of fitness and sports training. My search for a device that combines precision and comfort has led me to test an endless array of products.
During my intense rowing sessions, I always found chest heart rate straps to be bothersome and limiting, especially during the critical moments at the end of the stroke, particularly when using the rowing machine.
This discomfort not only disrupted my rhythm but also affected my focus and the effectiveness of my training. Often the transmitter would detach from the strap when it came into contact with the handle of the rowerg, completely undermining the data collection of my heart rate.
The need for a more comfortable and less invasive solution was clear.
After various trials, I finally decided to try an arm band. Initially, I was skeptical, fearing that it might not work well and that it might still be bothersome.
Wandering through various sites and after testing some arm band heart rate monitors from friends, I finally found the ideal solution, comfortable and at the right price: the COOSPO HW9 heart rate band.
With the HW9, it was a turning point. This device has proven to be a reliable partner in monitoring my heart activity, offering a level of precision that I previously thought was only possible with chest straps.
Its advanced optical heart rate detection technology allowed me to obtain accurate data with an error margin of only ±1BPM. This level of precision is crucial, especially in sports like rowing where managing intensity and endurance is key.
Wearing the strap on the arm instead of the chest has eliminated the discomfort and restrictions I had always associated with heart rate monitoring. This freedom of movement, coupled with the accuracy of the data, has made this heart rate monitor an indispensable tool in my training.
I must admit, I was also very skeptical about the battery life. Often, heart rate monitors have a replaceable battery which unfortunately does not last very long, especially with intensive use.
This strap, however, has an internal battery that can be quickly recharged with a magnetic charger.
The battery life is impressive; since I bought it on October 23, 2023, I’ve only had to charge it the first time, and I’ve used it for at least 1 hour and 30 minutes, 4 days a week. Being today December 22, 2023, I would say that’s a great duration.
Another thing I find very interesting is its ability to connect with a variety of devices and apps via Bluetooth 5.0 and ANT+. This makes it a flexible tool compatible with many fitness platforms, expanding its use in different training contexts.
A final feature that was indispensable for me in a heart rate monitor was the use of Elite HRV, an app to monitor heart rate variability. Not all straps allow for beat-to-beat detection and therefore cannot monitor this important parameter to understand the functioning of the autonomic nervous system.
With this strap, I’ve solved this problem, and furthermore, monitoring becomes easier because I don’t have to put the heart rate strap under my shirt but simply slip it onto my arm.
Conclusion: Key Advantages of the COOSPO HW9 Heart Rate Monitor
To summarize, here are the highlights that make the COOSPO HW9 heart rate strap an excellent choice for training:
